For 24 hours on May 1, people gave…and gave. Following 24 hours of online giving, the Community Foundation of Northwest Louisiana’s Give For Good 2018 raised an estimated $1,873,488. The number is still preliminary and might change a bit, but it represents 9,023 donations to 205 organizations, surpassing the 2017 total of just over $1.6 million.
Once again, the Shreveport-Bossier residents show that they will put money into things that they care about.
A number of Downtown non-profits were part of the giving push, including Shreveport Common, Artbreak, Robinson Film Center, Sci-Port, Shreveport Water Works Museum, Spring Street Museum and others.
Re:Form Shreveport took on the task of spreading information and raising money for a ‘parklet’ to show people the amazing future possibilities of a larger greenspace in Downtown’s Shreveport Common art and culture district. Re:Form members bombarded social media and engaged Millennials and others to ‘imagine when’ and along the way, helped Shreveport Common raise $3,675 from 30 donors for chairs, tables and trees. This is significantly more than in 2017.
Robinson Film Center tallied $43,160, by noon Sci-Port:Louisiana’s Science Center was over $8,000, and the Shreveport Water Works Museum raised $6,426.
If you missed Give for Good, no worries! All of the non-profits listed above and others would welcome your donations any time. All have ongoing obligations and needs that can’t be met without help from our community.
On behalf of all of the non-profits, we thank you for your continued support!
